What is CrossFit?

CrossFit® itself says that “CrossFit is the key to health and fitness.”

The CrossFit prescription is: “constantly varied, high-intensity, functional movement.”

No aspect of functional movements is more important than their capacity to move large loads over long distances, and to do so quickly. The constant variation provides a different stimulus for the body each session, creating adaptions that result in a constant increase in fitness levels.

The functional movements we utilize are “amplifications” of the big, regular activities a physically active individual performs. Many of us have sedentary occupations, yet CrossFit workouts allow us to remain active while moving with force and efficiency.

Because intensity is required for fitness to improve, the exercises are done at a high level of intensity. We’re talking about FITNESS here, not bodybuilding; there’s a world of difference. Sure, you might be out of breath and fatigued during your workouts, but your body will adapt, opening the pathway for growth. Intensity is relative to each individual and your coaches at CrossFit TEF are very experienced in working with different people to help them perform safely and within their limits.

The best part about starting CrossFit is that there is absolutely no minimum fitness requirement, no need to “be fit” before starting. First or five-hundredth workout, everyone in the room can do the same workout. Some will use heavier weights, some lighter, and some just with their own bodyweight.

Best of all, the Coaches at CrossFit TEF will help you start where you are; every journey begins somewhere.
